Syncrude Oil Country Championship Quick Hitters

  • The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada is a series of tournaments played across Canada each summer, where tomorrow’s stars begin the path to the PGA TOUR.
  • The leading five money winners at the end of each season earn status on the Web.com Tour for the following year.
  • Since 2013, the Tour’s alumni include 20 PGA TOUR players and more than 160 Web.com Tour players.
  • Fun fact: at the Valspar Championship on the PGA TOUR two weeks ago – Mackenzie Tour Alum Corey Conners (from Listowel, Ontario) led after every round at the Valspar and was right up there with Tiger Woods. Conners played at the inaugural Syncrude Oil Country Championship two years ago at the Glendale before earning PGA Tour status.
  • This year’s 3rd annual Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON will be held July 30 – August 5 at the Edmonton Petroleum Golf & Country Club where the challenge of that course will certainly produce another stellar champion.
  • Last year’s 2017 Oil Country Championship at the Windermere G&CC was voted by Tour players as their favourite course to play.
  • Aaron Wise, the inaugural 2016 Oil Country Championship winner was the youngest player to win on Tour at 19 years old and is already playing on the PGA TOUR.
  • 20 Mackenzie Tour Alumni have gone on to earn PGA TOUR cards, including 14 for the 2017-18 season.
    • Included amongst those alums are Mackenzie Hughes, Nick Taylor and Tony Finau, all of whom have won on the PGA TOUR with Hughes being the first Mackenzie Tour alum to qualify for The Masters.
  • Fans can get the latest news including tickets, caddy and volunteer opportunities in the next few weeks at OilCountryChampionship.com.
