Volunteer and caddie registration open for Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada event

(Edmonton, AB) – Oilers Entertainment Group (OEG) announced today that the 3rd annual Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON is officially in full swing with volunteer and caddie registration now open for the seven-day event. A returning official competition on the Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada, the Oil Country Championship will be hosted at the Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club July 30 – August 5, 2018.

Online registration for both caddies and volunteers is now open, REGISTER HERE.

Building off the past two successful tournaments, the third annual Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON will require approximately 500 volunteers, creating a unique opportunity for the Edmonton community to become engaged. Each volunteer will receive their tournament uniform, meals and snacks during their shifts and a volunteer recognition dinner.

Caddies selected from the registration process will be paid per round. Participating in the Oil Country Championship as a caddy is a tremendous opportunity for avid golf fans to join the action and meet the next great players in professional golf.

The full 2018 Mackenzie Tour schedule was announced in March and features 13 official tournaments from May to September with a $25,000 increase for all tournament purses as players compete to make the next step on the path to the PGA TOUR. With purses of $200,000 CAD for all regular events, the Mackenzie Tour season will begin May 28 – June 3 in Vancouver, British Columbia, before making its eighth tour stop in Edmonton at the Oil Country Championship.

“This year’s 3rd annual Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON is going to be really special for our Edmonton community with something for everyone to enjoy,” said OEG CEO & Vice Chair Bob Nicholson.

“Our partnership with the PGA TOUR has already produced two strong events and we’re excited about the high standard of golf and hospitality that our community is set to enjoy at Edmonton Petroleum Golf & Country Club this summer. The Oil Country Championship is a great community event and we encourage all sport enthusiasts and families to come and see the PGA TOUR stars of tomorrow right here in Edmonton.”

The Oil Country Championship tournament week will kick off with a ticketed event on Tuesday, July 31 for spectators and guests to enjoy the fan-favourite Celebrity Pro-Am featuring current Edmonton Oilers players, Oilers Alumni and other sport and entertainment celebrities who will be announced in the coming weeks. The official Mackenzie Tour competition will take centre stage August 2 – 5, 2018 for the official Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON tournament.

Raising support for charities and giving back to the community is a key priority for every Mackenzie Tour tournament. For the third year, the Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON will be in support of the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF).

As this year’s beneficiary, the Oilers Foundation will be donating all net tournament funds to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation in support of its Pediatric Procedure Room. The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation promotes rehabilitation and provides financial support for the enhancement of patient care, education, research, equipment and technology development at the Glenrose.

The Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON will be supporting the equipment inside the Pediatric Procedure Room – a safe, private and non-threatening child-friendly pediatric suite for medical procedures.

“We are thrilled, honoured and proud to be the host venue for the Syncrdue Oil Country Championship presented by AECON. As we enter our 25th anniversary, our membership is excited to be showcasing our facility and look forward to the opportunity to give back to the community and help raise funds for Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation,” said Scott Hippe GM and COO, Petroleum Golf & Country Club.
